September 8th, 2018 - OHL’s Judlau Contracting team joined members of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ), and other local leaders to celebrate the historic opening of the Cortlandt Street Subway Station, renamed World Trade Center (WTC) Cortlandt Station. The opening of the station is a significant milestone and marks the completion of the last major unfinished work since the tragedy of 9/11.

OHL’s rehabilitation work included: architectural finishes for the station and platforms; new platforms and mezzanines which allow direct access to the WTC Transportation Hub; utility installation; concrete work; trackside elements; installation of mechanical, electrical, communications, lighting, and new signaling infrastructure; elevators and escalators, and many other elements. The project team overcame several challenges to deliver the project on schedule.

The new, innovative station has bright, modern finishes and includes white mosaic walls that incorporate text from the 1776 Declaration of Independence and the 1948 United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The station has fewer support columns to improve customer flow and provides direct views and access into the new World Trade Center Transportation Hub and the famed Oculus.
