MIAMI, Fla. – October 1, 2026 – OHLA USA, Inc., the design-builder of the South Dade TransitWay (South Corridor) project, announced today that the rapid transit initiative has received multiple awards and recognitions from leading trade publications and industry organizations. The following accolades highlight the breadth of OHLA’s expertise – from delivering exceptional infrastructure projects to advancing sustainable practices that help build a better future for Miami-Dade County.

  • A Best Projects Award – Award of Merit in the Airport/Transit category from Engineering News-Record (ENR) Southeast
  • An Excellence in Sustainability Award from Engineering News-Record (ENR) Southeast
  • A Project of the Year Award in the Transportation-Structures category from the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) Florida Region
  • An Envision Gold Award from the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI)
  • A Project of the Year Award from the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO)

The company has long been recognized for its successful project execution, winning past awards from ENR, DBIA, and other industry associations. The ISI Envision Gold Award is a first for the company and marks a new milestone in its commitment to sustainability excellence. The recognition was achieved through collaboration with project team members to meet performance criteria across 64 indicators in five divisions: Quality of Life, Leadership, Resource Allocation, Natural World, and Climate & Resilience.

The South Dade TransitWay (South Corridor) Project

At the end of 2025, OHLA substantially completed the $385 million design-build contract to convert the 20-mile-long South Dade TransitWay to a state-of-the-art Bus Rapid Transit line. The new system, which connects five municipalities, cuts travel times and increases efficiency along a busy and rapidly growing corridor in Miami-Dade County.

OHLA USA’s civil, building, and asphalt divisions aligned their skill sets to carry out the project, which encompassed the construction of new and the rehabilitation of existing stations and bus shelters, the construction of a new five-level, 645-space park-and-ride garage, and significant corridor rehabilitation and intersection improvements along the

exclusive right-of-way between the SW 344th Street Station and Dadeland South, adjacent to US‐1, Old Dixie Highway, and Flagler Avenue.

The South Dade TransitWay includes 14 iconic stations; each designed with distinctive features including curved metal roofs, illuminated interior pylons displaying station names, and air-conditioned vestibules that enhance passenger comfort.

Expanding OHLA USA’s Presence in Florida

OHLA USA’s Southeast Civil subsidiary has a robust portfolio of current and past projects, each of which plays an important role in enhancing the region’s transportation network. Included in the list are two current Phased Design-Build projects:  the North Bulkhead Berths 1-6 Realignment Program at the Port of Miami for Miami-Dade County and the I-95/SW 10th Street Connector, which OHLA is performing with Prince Contracting, LLC, a member of the ACS Group, in tandem with the client, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).

Also, for FDOT, the company is executing three major contracts valued at a combined $457 million along the Florida Turnpike to improve safety and travel reliability by adding and widening lanes at several locations.

OHLA Building, the company’s vertical construction entity, is performing a $228 million Design-Build contract for the Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation (MDCR) new Intake and Administration Center. The project includes an administrative headquarters, judicial support spaces, a warehouse and operational support facility, and a six-story parking garage, along with supporting infrastructure designed to serve staff, visitors, and partner agencies.

OHLA USA’s National Growth

Since entering the U.S. market in 2005, OHLA has expanded its operations in Florida, New York, California, Illinois, Maryland, and Massachusetts. The company is engaged in major infrastructure projects, including the Purple Line Light Rail in Maryland, ADA upgrades at 13 New York City subway stations, the I-5 North County Enhancements in California, the Ruggles Station Improvements in Massachusetts, and the Addison Creek Channel Improvements, an environmental resiliency project in Illinois.

OHLA USA remains committed to delivering innovative and sustainable infrastructure solutions, driving economic growth, and improving mobility across the U.S.
