The OHL Group, through its subsidiary OHL Arellano, has been awarded a 40-million-euro project in Miami for the construction of a center for innovation at Miami Dade College, one of the top universities in the United States.

The contract consists of the construction of a new four-storey building for the Center for Learning, Innovation and Simulation. The project will include an enclosed footbridge connecting the new facility to the existing academic building, as well as areas for classrooms, an auditorium with capacity for 300 people, areas for meetings, laboratories for clinical studies including medical and histology lab technology, physiotherapy, massage and respiratory rooms as well as a teaching and learning simulation center.

This award is additional to the projects performed in 2015 for this university on the InterAmerican Campus, which included the renovation of a building with a surface area of close to 7,000 m2 and a four-floor parking garage totaling more than 22,000 m2.

With this contract, OHL Arellano reinforces its position in the environment of higher education, where it has been active for more than thirty years. During this time, it has contributed to the development and growth of the University of Miami and has carried out various projects for Florida International University, Christopher Columbus High School and Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management.  In addition, it has also carried out the construction and renovation of hospitals and healthcare centers, with significant contracts in hospitals such as the Baptist Hospital, South Miami Hospital, Miami Children's Hospital, Boca Raton Regional Hospital, Mercy Hospital and Mount Sinai in Miami.

The company became a member of the OHL Group in September 2008 and, since its creation in 1974, the construction of hospitals and healthcare centers has been the mainstay of its activity, with significant contracts in hospitals such as the Baptist Hospital, South Miami Hospital, Miami Children's Hospital, Boca Raton Regional Hospital, Mercy Hospital and Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami.

OHL maintains an outstanding position in the construction sector in the United States, where it has been present since 2006, the year when the Group entered the Florida market. Later, the company reinforces its presence in the country through the acquisition of Judlau Contracting in New York.
